Abstract: Metabolic reprogramming is an important feature of tumor cell metabolism. Glutamine, as a conditionally essential amino acid, provides material and energy for cell growth and maintains the redox homeostasis of tumor cells. This article reviews the role of glutamine in tumorigenesis, development and metastasis, discusses the relationship between glutamine and key biomacromolecules, and provides ideas for finding new targets in cancer therapy.
