Abstract:
Seven compounds were isolated from the alcohol extract of
Edgeworthia gardneri by various technologies, including silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and high performance liquid chromatography, and were identified as edgeworthiaside A (
1), 2,4,6-trichlorol-3-methyl-5-methoxy-phenol 1-
O-
β-
D-glucopyranosyl-(1-6)-
β-
D-glucopyranoside (
2), 2,6-dimethoxy-4-(2-propen-1-yl)phenyl 6-
O-(6-deoxy-
α-
L-mannopyranosyl)-
β-
D-glucopyranoside (
3), eugenol rutinoside (
4), tiliroside (
5), edgeworoside C (
6), and salicylic acid (
7). Compound
1 is a new chlorophenyl glycoside and
2-
4 were isolated for the first time from
Edgeworthia gardneri. The
in vitro inhibition of
α-glucosidase showed that the inhibition rate of compounds
1 and
2 were similar to acarbose.
