Abstract: (1) Paper adsorption chromalograms are given for the roots and leaves of Dichroa febrifuga Lour., roots of Hydrangea optdoides Steud., Berberis vudgaris L. and Orixa japonica Thunberg. (2) The method of isolation of total alkaloids from the roots of Dichroa febrifuga Lour., by means of cation ion exchanger—sulfonated coal and the purification of crude alkaloids so isolated by means of liquid chromatography is presented. (3) The ion exchange chromatographic method for the determination of total alkaloids in the roots and leaves of Dichroa febrifuga Lour., is reported. The average contents of total alkaloids calculated as dichroine in the roots and leaves of D. febrifuga Lour., were found to be 0.111% and 0.4679% respectively.
