Abstract:
An antitubercular fraction was obtained by adding dilute alcohol to dissolve the water insoluble portion from the alcoholic extract of the whole plant of
Ardisia japonica (Hornsted) Blume. Two new amorphus antitubercular phenols, named Ardisinol Ⅰ, C
20 H
32O
2, and Ardisinol Ⅱ, C
19H
30O
2, have been isolated from this antitubercular fraction. Another phenolic constituents, 2-methylcardol, C
22H
36O
2, not described in this plant before was also isolated. Besides, four other constituents have been isolated and identified as ilexol, embelin, bergenin and quercetin.
