4 solution, a well-defined reduction wave of barbaloin was obtained by singlesweep oscillopolarography. The peak potential was shown to be -0.75 V (vs SCE). The peak current is proportional to the concentration of barbaloin over the range of 2.0×10

-1. The detection limit is 2.0×10

-1. The voltammetric behaviour of the system was studied by linear sweep and cyclic voltammetry. The adsorption coefficient β was 1.91×10
5. The interaction factor α was 1.12. The system is a reversible adsorption wave.
