Abstract: Zhuling, Grifolla umbellata Pilat, often used in combination with other herbaceous drugs for the treatment of edema in Chinese medicine, was studied for its diuretic effect in unanaesthetized dogs. It was found that the decoction of this drug, given intravenously or intra-muscularly, produced a marked increase in urine output as well as a substantial increase in the excretion of sodium, chloride and potassium.
