Abstract:
As certain compounds of acridine group were known to have anti-tumor effect in animal experiments and have been studied extensively, a number of 9-aminoacridine derivatives were prepared in this laboratory. The synthesis were carried out by direct condensation of 9-chloroacridine with pertinent amines in organic solvent, Results of animal screening revealed that compound 9-(p-methylanilino)-acridine was effective against mouse leukemia 615, Sarcoma 180, liver carcinoma (solid), lympho-sarcoma and other tumors when given orally. The compound had been recommended for clinical trial in 1976.
