Abstract:
AIM: To study the alkaloidal constituents of the vine stalk of
Tinospora hainanensis. METHODS: Using solvent extraction and silica gel column chromatography to separate and purify the chemical constituents. MS, NMR, HMQC, HMBC and X-ray were used to determine the structure of the isolated constituents. RESULTS: Three quaternary alkaloids in the form of iodide were isolated and identified as: columbanine (I),
S-trans-N-methyltetrahydrocolumbamine (II) and
S-trans-cyclanoline (III). CONCLUSION: III is a new alkaloid.
