Abstract: Captopril is an orally active angiotesin converting enzyme inhibitor and is used as an antihypertensive drug with a short biological half life. In order to search for new derivatives with longer duration of action and higher activity, captopril esters and thioethers were synthesized. In preliminary pharmacological tests some esters showed hypotensive activity.
