Abstract:
From Chinese red ginseng (
Panax ginseng. C. A. Meyer) ten saponins (RG1-10) were isolated. The structures of these saponins were identified on the basis of IR, Mass (FD-MS),
13C-NMR and chemical evidences, respectively with 20(R)-ginsenoside Rh
1 (RG-1), ginsenogside Rg
3 (RG-2), 20(R) ginsenoside Rg
2(RG-3), 20(R)protopanaxatriol (RG-4) and ginsenosides-Rg
1 (RG-5),-Re(RG-6), Rd(RG-7), -Rc(RG-8), -Rb
2(RG-9), -Rb
1(RG-10). three saponins RG-1, RG-2 and RG-4 were for the first time obtained from the Chinese red ginseng. These constituents may be one of the causes of difference of pharmacological activity between red ginseng and white ginseng.
