Abstract: I-mu-tsao is the flowering tops of Leonurus sibiricus L., family Labiatae. It is used in Chinese medicine for the treatment of difficult labor and post-partum hemorrhage. A brief account of its history, constituents and plant habit and a detailed description of its sensory, macroscopical and microscopical characters are given.
