Abstract:
Andrographis paniculata Nees is a Chinese medicinal herb wildly distributed in south China. Recently, it was confirmed by clinical trial that its diterpenoids components showed definite efficacy in the treatment of dysentery and some kinds of infected diseases. Among these components neoandrographolide displayed a better result than others in the clinical therapy of bacillary dysentery. In search for the active principles, two glucosides, 14-deoxyandrographoside (Ⅴ) and andrographoside(Ⅶ) were isolated from the more polar fraction. By acid hydrolysis, enzyme hydrolysis and Smith degradation and by spectral data('HNMR, IR UV and MS spectra), it was shown that (Ⅴ) was 14-deoxyandrographolide-19-
β-glucoside and (Ⅶ) was andrographolide-19-
β-glucoside. (Ⅴ)and (Ⅶ) were first isolated from natural origin. Antibacterial experiments are in progress.
