Abstract:
AIM: For the diagnosis of hepatitis E to search for specific and sensibly diagnostic kit. METHODS and RESULTS: Since the protein of hepatitis E virus (HEV) contains two potential immunodominant epitopes., three fragments (S30, S42 and NS33) have been chosen from the amino acid sequence of the protein of the HEV genome of Chinese strain and synthesized by using solid phase method. They were characterized by amino acid analysis and mass spectroscopy. An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit was developed by using these three synthetic peptides. CONCLUSION: This kit show high specificity and sensitivity in serodiagnosis and will be applicable to clinic diagnosis.
