Abstract:
Effect of panaxadiol saponin (PDS) and panaxatriol saponin(PTS) isolated from the stem and leaves of Panaxa Ginseng on the activity of ATPase (Na
+, K
+-ATPase, Ca
2+-ATPase, Mg
2+-ATPase) in rabbit striatum microsome is. reported. The mode of inhibition of PDS and PTS. on Na
+, K
+-ATPase was atso studied. The results showed that PDS and PTS significantly inhibited the activity of Na
+, K
+-ATPase in rabbit striatum in a concentration dependent manner ahd the actions of the two saponins are similar to those of chlorpromazine. On the, other hand, PDS in a concentration of 1:10
-5 was found to have stimulatory, action while in a concentration of 1:10
-3 inhibitory effect on striatum microsome Ca
2+-ATPase. It is postulated that the effects of PDS and PTS on CNS may be related to the ATPase activity in the striatum.
