Phospholipase A
2(PLA
2) plays an important role in the inflammation process.Inhibition of PLA
2 may provide a possible therapeutic method for inflammation disorders.Three seriesof known inhibitors of PLA2(altogether 24 compounds)which have similar structural groups,wereselected from the patents.Comparative molecular field analysis(CoMFA)study was carried out onthese molecules and a positive structure-activity relationship has been derived.The results show thatthe steric fields gave more contribution to the model than the electrostatic fields.The analysis providesvaluable information for the design of inhibitors with more potent activity.
