SYNTHESIS AND BIOACTIVITY OF SOME 3,4-DIACYLOXYBENZOPYRANS

    Abstract: Considerable attention is now being given to the potassium channel openers of benzopyrans as potential therapeutical agents for hypertension. In order to search for novel antihypertensive with high efficacy and low toxicity, integrating structural features of cromakalim and praeruptorin C, twenty-four compounds of 3,4-diacyloxybenzopyrans were designed and synthesized. Some of them exhibited hypotensive activity in Sprague Dawley rats.
