Abstract:
A simple but rapid method for estimation of cutisone is proposed as fallows: Weigh accurately about 0.15—0.2 g of cutisone, in a 100 ml beaker, and dissolve it in 30 ml of alcohol. Add 25 ml of 0.1 silver nitrate. Shake well, and filter the'precipitate through a buchner filter under reduced pressure. Wash the beaker and the precipitate with four 10 ml portions of distilled water. Acidify the filtrate with 5 ml nitric acid Add 1 ml of ferric ammonium sulfate indicator and titrated the excess of silver nitrate with 0.1
N ammonium thiocynate. Carry out a blank determination using the same quantities of reagents but omitting cutisone. The difference between two titration represents the quantity of silver nitrate used. Each ml of 0.1
N silver nitrate is equivalent to 0.01473 g cutisone. The average deviation of the method is ±0.5%.
