Abstract:
AIM To investigate the triterpenoids of the roots and stems of
Clematoclethra scandens (Franch.) Maxim. METHODS The methanol extracts were suspended in H
2O and then extracted with petroleum ether, EtOAc and n-BuOH, successfully. Column chromatography was used for separation and purification, while spectral evidence was used for structure identification. RESULTS Five triterpenoids were isolated and identified as 2
α,3
β,24-trihydroxyurs-12,18-dien-28-oic acid-28-
O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (I), niga-ichigoside F
1 (II), asiatic acid (III), 2
α,3
α,24-trihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid (IV) and 2
α,3
α,19
α,24-tetrahydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid (V). CONCLUSION All compounds were isolated from the plants of this genus for the first time. Among them, I is a new triterpene saponin.
