Abstract: Coulometric titration of total flavonoids and hyperin in Saururus chinensis (Lour.) Ball with electrolytically generated bromine was studied. After solvent extraction of the crude drug, hyperin was separated by thin-layer chromatography. The titration was carried out in a mixture of 2 N HCl—1M KBr-EtOH. The end point was detected by the dead-stop method.The advantages of this method are simple, rapid, accurate and can be used to analyze small sample.
