DETERMINATION OF ACTIVE CONSTITUENTS IN CHINESE HERB DRUGS Ⅰ. COULOMETRIC TITRATION OF PAEONOL IN PAEONIA SUFFRUTICOSA ANDR. AND PTCNOSTELMA PANICULATUM (BUNGE) K. SCHUM.

  • Abstract: Goulometric titration of paeonol with electrolytically generated bromine was studiedThe titration was carried out in a mixture of 1 M KBr-2N HCI and bromine was generated at the anode, paeonol reacted with one mole of bromine with an n value of 2. This method was applied to the analysis of paeonol in Paeonia suffruticosa Andr. vand Pycnostelma paniculatum (Bunge) K. schum, and satisfactory results were obtained.The advantages of this method are simple, rapid and accurate, it can be used to analyze small amount of sample.
