Biology of thioredoxin and its association with Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease

  • 摘要: 硫氧还蛋白(thioredoxin,Trx)是一种具有氧化还原活性的小分子蛋白质,具有抗氧化、抗凋亡、调节转录因子活性等功能,在氧化还原调节和细胞信号转导中发挥重要作用。本文对哺乳动物的Trx及其与阿尔茨海默病(AD)和帕金森病(PD)的关系的研究进展进行综述。基于Trx的神经保护活性,增加Trx的表达可望成为AD和PD防治的新靶点。

     

    Abstract: Thioredoxin (Trx) is a crucial protein for antioxidative defense, as well as a redox regulator of the intra- and extracellular signaling pathways and transcription factors. In this review, we focus on mammalian Trx and its association with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD). Based on the evidence of neuroprotective effects of Trx, up-regulation of Trx may be a good strategy for prevention and treatment of AD and PD.
