Abstract: In an attempt to keep the antispermatogenic activity but lower the toxicity of gossypol by way of structural modification, mono-aldehyde gossypol and four other gossypol analogues have been synthesized. The test of spermicidal activity of these compounds in vitro in 20 seconds showed that mono-aldehyde gossvpol, compound 3, is better than gossvnol.
