Study on novel spirocyclic sesquiterpenoids from patchouli oil

  • The chemical components of the patchouli oil were isolated and purified by silica gel column chromatography, preparative thin layer chromatography and semi-preparative HPLC. Then, the structures of the obtained compounds were identified by HR-MS, IR, and NMR. The absolute configurations of the novel compounds were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and calculation of ECD. Finally, two novel spirocyclic sesquiterpenoids were obtained from patchouli oil and identified as spiroaxanol A (1) and spirojatamone A (2), respectively.
