STUDIES ON CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS FROM GLYCYRRHIZA PALIDDIFLORA MAXIM

  • Five compounds were isolated from the rhizome of Glycyrrhiza pallidiflora Maxim. Four of them were elucidated by spectroscopic and chemical methods as β-sitosterol (Ⅱ), macedonic acid methyl ester (Ⅲ), 21-dehydro-macedonic acid methyl ester (Ⅳ), and 5-hydroxy-4′-methoxy isoflavone (Ⅴ) Ⅶ was isolated for the first time as a natural compound, named pallidifloric acid methyl ester. Ⅴ is a new compound, named pallidiflorin.Studies of the chemical structure of Ⅱ are in progress.
