THE CONSTITUENTS OF SALSOLA RUTHENICA ILJIN

    Abstract
  • Betain, succinic acid, oxalic acid, and a polysaccharide were isolated from the Chinese drug Zhu-Mao-Cai (Salsola ruthenica Iljin). Hydrolytic cleavage of the polysaccharide reveals the presence of arabinose, galactose, rhamnose, xylose, galacturonic acid, and an amino-sugar. The expected alkaloids: salsoline and salsolidine can not be detected.
