Studies on the Chinese Drug Cortex Moutan Radicis Assay of Paeonol in Cortex Moutan Radicis

The paeonol present in cortex paeonia Radicis has been studied by the steam-distillation method, and its content is determined by both bromometry and iodometry. This method can be performed in any laboratory. Besides the procedure is simple and the result obtained reliable, there is no necessary for any organic solvent. By the use of such a method, the quality of Cortex paeonia Radicis may be identified on the base of the paeonol content.
