ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF PROPIONYL SPIRAMYCIN II
-
Abstract
Component A and B were isolated from propionyl spiramycin (Pro-SPM) by means of column chromatography with macroreticular resin. Their physical and chemical properties were determined. On the basis of analytical data component A was shown to be identical with the previously reported Pro SPM III. The structure of component B was elucidated and designated as Pro-SPM II. It is a new antibiotic. The only difference between A (Pro-SPM III) and B (Pro SPM II) is the presence of a C3-O-Pro in A in contrast to the presence of a C3-OAc in B.
