HPLC SEPARATION AND DETERMINATION OF CEPHALOTAXUS ALKALOIDS
-
Abstract
Normal and reverse phase HPLC methods using Lichrosorb SI-60 and Nucleosil C-18 as the stationary phase in separation of total alkaloid of Cephalotaxus, mixed alkaloid esters and epimers of partially synthesized Cephalotaxus alkaloids are reported. The method proposed can also be used for the quantitative analysis of mixed alkaloid esters and epimers of partially synthesized Cephalotaxus alkaloids. The influence of analytical parameters upon the chromatographic behaviour has been discussed. The methods suggested were found to be suitable for the analysis of total alkaloid extract, preparation and semi-synthesized products. The sensitivity of the method is 1× 10-6 g with average deviation of 1.9%.
