THE FORMAL TOTAL SYNTHESIS OF SECURININE

Securinine (Ⅰ) was synthesized using α-ketol (Ⅱ) as the starting material by acetylation, bromination, elimination and condensation. The IR, ¹HNMR and melting point of the synthetic product is identical with those of naturalsecurinine.The α-ketol (Ⅱ) was obtained by degrading natural securinine instead of a multi-step synthesis. Thus, this work constitutes a formal total synthesis of securinine using Ⅱ as a relay.
