STUDIES ON THE ACTIVE PRINCIPLES OF THE FRUITS OF MACLEAYA CORDATA (WILLD.) R. Br.

    Abstract
  • Five alkaloids were isolated from the fruits of Macleaya cordata (Willd.) R. Br. They have been identified as Sanguinarine, Ghelerythrine, Protopine, α-Allocryptopine and β-Allocryptopine. In pharmacological studies and clinical trials the former two compounds showed comparatively good antibacterial and antiphlogistical effects.
