ISOLATION AND STRUCTURAL DETERMINATION OF PERFORATIC ACID FROM CHINESE FOLK MEDICINE NIU-JINGUO(HARRISONIA PERFORATE)

From the root of the Chinese folk medicine Niu-Jin-Guo (Harrisonia perforate (Blano) Merr.) a new chromone compound No. V was isolated.Based on chemical and spectral studies, the structure of this new chromone (named perforatic acid) was elucidated as V. Preliminary tests revealed that this compound showed marked inhibitory action on the incorporation of ³H-TdR into mice hepatic carcinoma ascites type cells in vitro.Further study is in progress.
