ALKALOIDS OF THE CHINESE DRUGS,ACONITUM SPP.——Ⅸ.ALKALOIDS FROM CHUAN-WU AND FU-TZU,ACONITUM CARMICHAELI DEBX.

Six alkaloids have been isolated from the Chinese drugs, Aconitum carmichaeli Debx., Chuan-wu. Four of them were identified as hypaconitine, aconitine, mesaconitine, and talatisamine respectively by comparing their physical and chemical properties with those of the authentic samples. It seems that the other two alkaloids are new com- pounds; they are provisionally named Chuan-wu base A and Chuan-wu base B. The Chuan-wu base A, C₂₃H₃₇O₆N, m.p. 111℃, α_D²² = 0° (CHCl₃), was found to be a tertiary base with two hydroxy, two methoxy, and one N-ethyl groups. The Chuan-wu base B has the formula C₃₂H₃₅O₄N, m.p. 185℃, α_D²² =0° (CHCl₃).
