ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF SAIKOGENIN Q AND SAIKOSAPONIN Q FROM BUPLEUM SMITHII WOLFF VAR PARVIFOLIUM SHAN ET Y LI

From the dried rhizome of Bupleurm smithii Wolff var.parvifolium Shan et Y.Li collected in Datong County,Qinghai province,China,a new saponin and a sapogenin along with aknown sapogenin(saikogenin A).(1)were isolated and their structures were elucidated on the basisof chemical and spectroscopic evidence.The new saponin,saikosaponin q(3) was identified as 3β,16β,23,28.30-pentahydroxyoleana-11,13(18)-diene-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-α-L-rhamnopyranasyl-(1→4)-β-D-glucopyranoside.The new sapogenin　2)saikogenin Q,wasidentified as oleana-11,13(18)-diene-3β,16β,23,28,30-pentol.
