A STUDY ON THE CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF ARDISIA JAPONICA (HORNSTED) BLUME
-
Abstract
An antitubercular fraction was obtained by adding dilute alcohol to dissolve the water insoluble portion from the alcoholic extract of the whole plant of Ardisia japonica (Hornsted) Blume. Two new amorphus antitubercular phenols, named Ardisinol Ⅰ, C20 H32O2, and Ardisinol Ⅱ, C19H30O2, have been isolated from this antitubercular fraction. Another phenolic constituents, 2-methylcardol, C22H36O2, not described in this plant before was also isolated. Besides, four other constituents have been isolated and identified as ilexol, embelin, bergenin and quercetin.
