THE ACTION OF SCHIZANDRA CHINENSIS ON RESPIRATION AND BLOOD PRESSURE IN LABORATORY ANIMALS
-
Abstract
1.The preparations of Schizandra chinensis exerted a stimulating action on respiration causing an increased frequency and volume of respiration. The action was directly on the respiratory center and not through the carotid sinus. The preparations antagonized the inhibitory action of morphine on respiration. 3.The preparations of Schizandra chinensis decreased the blood pressure considerably in the cxperimental animals. This action is not due to the sinus carotid reflex.
