Abstract
Lilium brownii F.E.Brown var. viridulum Baker is a well-known and very important traditional Chinese medicine. It has been used as sedative, antitussive, anti-inflammatory or as a nutrient. Five compounds were isolated from the bulbs of Lilium brownii. On the basis of spectroscopic analysis (IR, FABMS,1HNMR,13CNMR, DEPT, HMQC, HMBC) and their physicochemical properties, they were identified as β-sitosterol (I), daucosterol (II), n-butyl-β-D-fructopyranoside (III), 26-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-3β,26-dihydroxy-5-cholesten-16,22-dioxo-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-glucopyranoside (IV), 26-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-3β,26-dihydroxy cholestan-16,22-dioxo-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-glucopyranoside(V). Among them, I, II and III were isolated from this plant for the first time, IV and V are new compounds.
