DETERMINATION OF ARTEMISININE AND ITS DERIVATIVES BY HIGH PRESSURE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY
-
Abstract
Artemisinine, a new antimalarial drug discovered by Chinese scientists, and its derivatives were successfully separated by HPLG both in normal and reversed phases in which silica A and PEAB-ODS-SILX columns were used, respectively. The packed column with variable components of solvents as eluents had been used to study the chromatographic behavior of each compound exhibiting a linear relationship between logk' and the logarithm of the concentration of the strong solvents in eluents made up of 2,2,4-trimethylpentane and equal volumes of ethanol and methanol. The quantitative methods for artemisinine and β-methylhydroartemisinine were given by using cholesterol as internal standard and their coefficients of variation were 0.76 and 0.93% respectively.
