STUDIES ON THE ACTIVE CONSTITUENTS OF SYRINGA OBLATA LINDL.
-
Abstract
Six compounds were isolated from the leaves of Syringa oblata Lindl. and identified as D-mannitol (Ⅰ), tyrosol (Ⅱ), E-p-hydroxycinnamic acid (Ⅲ), 3, 4-dihydroxyphenethyl alcohol (Ⅳ), 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid (Ⅴ) and syringopicroside (Ⅵ) on the basis of their analytical and spectral data. Bacteriostatic experiments showed that compounds (Ⅱ), (Ⅲ), (Ⅳ), Ⅴ and the aglucon of (Ⅵ) were all bacteriostatic. Compound (Ⅳ) was highly, effective, and its minimum bacteriostatic concentration against Shigella flexneri was 6.25 γ/ml. Pharmacological experiments showed that compound (Ⅵ) was highly cholecystagogic.
