ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF COUMARIN PRAERUPTORIN E FROM THE ROOT OF THE CHINESE DRUG PEUCEDANUM PRAERUPTORUM DUNN (UMBELLIFERAE)

A pharmacologically active new compound, praeruptorin E and two known praeruptorin C and crystal (Ⅱ) were first isolated from the root of the Chinese drug Peucedanum praeruptorum Dunn.The structure of praeruptorin E was elucidated as(+)3'-angeloyl-4'-isovalerylcis-khellactone by spectral (UV; IR, MS, NMR) and chemical (hydrolysis) studies Praeruptorin E was shown to increase tolerance to anoxia in intact mice.
