STUDIES ON ANTIBILHARZIAL DRUGS ⅩⅩⅦ.SCREENING OF 377 COMPOUNDS ON SCHISTOSOMIASIS JAPONICA IN MICE

(1)For therapeutic effect on schistosomiasis japonica 291 non-antimonial and 86 antimonial compounds had been screened in mice. (2)Most of the effective drugs were antimonials, among which Sb-34, 71, 79, 82, 84, 87—89, 113 and 133—140 were preferable and nine of them were antimony glycerates. (3)A 3-day course of intensive antimonial treatment, followed by a holding period of 10—14 days, was found to be long enough to kill the helminths. (4)No definite relation was shown between the Sb content and the therapeutic effect of antimonial compounds. The side chains seemed to play a more important role.
