STUDIES ON DETERMINATION OF VINCAMINE IN VINCA MINOR

Application of thin layer chromatographic method to separation and subsequent visible densitometric or UV spectrophotometric determination of vincamine in Vinca minor is described.By densitometric method the linear range was 0.5～3.0μg, per spot and CV% of pure vincamine was 2.02 (n=9).Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 50～250μg in 5 ml of 1 N hydrochloric acid solution and recovery of pure vincamine was 98.2±2.1% by the UV spectrophotometric method.The results of quantitative determination of 6 samples by both methods agreed very well, but. the densitometric method was far more rapid and sensitive than the UV method.
