SYNTHESIS OF SOME IODINE SUBSTITUTED ρ-DIMETHYLAMINOAZOBENZENE DERIVATIVES

Some iodine substituted p-dimethylaminoazobenzene derivatives were synthesized by coupling iodobenzendiazonium salt with dimethylaniline. In the preparation of 4'-iodo-4-N,N-dimethylaminoazobene-I, diazotization and coupling were carried out in one step in order to avoid decomposition and a yield of about 68% was obtained.
