STUDIES ON SOLUBILIZATION AND STABILITY OF CALCIFEROL

  • The surfactants of polyoxyethylene castor oil series were found to have better efficiency than those of polyoxyethylene sorbitan monoacid ester series and polyoxyethylene fatty alcohol ether series in the solubilization and stabilization of calciferol.The effects of antioxidants on the autoxidation of calciferol Solubilized in Tween 80 solution were investigated. The locations of calciferol and antioxidants, propyl gallate and butylated hydroxyanisole within the micelles were determined by ultraviolet absorption spectrum method and solubility method. On the basis of these results, it was suggested that butylated hydroxyanisole might penetrate deeper into the palisade layer of the micelles, as calciferol did, and revealed a better antioxidative effect.
