STUDEIS ON THE CONSTITUENTS OF MURRAYA PANICULATA (L.) JACK.
-
Abstract
Six coumarins were isolated from the leaves of Murraya paniculata (L.) Jack. (Rutaceae) grown in Guangdong. Three of the coumarins are new. On the basis of spectroscopic (UV, IR, NMR and MS) analysis and chemical methods isomexoticin, murpanidin and murpanicin were identified as (-) 5,7-dimethoxy-8-(2,3-dihydroxy-3-methylbutyl) coumarin (Ⅰ), (+) 7-methoxy-8-(1,2-dihydroxy-3-methyl-3-butenyl) coumarin (Ⅲ) and 7-methoxy-8-(1-ethoxy-2-hydroxy-3-methyl-3-butenyl) coumarin (Ⅳ), respectively. In addition, three known coumarins, murragatin (Ⅱ), murralongin (Ⅴ) and 5,7-dimethoxy-8-(3-methyl-2-keto-butyl) coumarin (Ⅵ), were also obtained. The last compound was isolated for the first time from this plant.
