STUDIES ON THE ACTIVE PRINCIPLES OF Ze-Qi(EUPHORBIA HELIOSCOPIA L.) A DRUG USED FOR CHRONIC BRONCHITIS (Ⅰ).

    Abstract
  • Five. crystalline compounds have been isolated from Ze-Qi (Euphorbia helioscopia L.).They were identified as quercetin-3-digalactoside (Heliosin), quercetin, hyperin, gallic acid and succinic acid according to chemical studies and spectral data analysis.Heliosin has been tried clinically on 286 patients and the results showed satisfatory antitussive effect. In addition, the gallic acid has been tried for treating bacillary dysentery and showed certain therapeutic effect.
