STUDIES ON THE ALKALOIDS OF THE CHINESE DRUG,I-MU-TSAO,LEONURUS SIBIRICUS L.I.STACHYDRINE

An alkaloid,isolated with the aid of the ammonium reineckate precipitation method,from the chinese drug,I-mu-tsao,Leonurus sibricus L.,has been proved to be identical with stachydrine,by the pH test,dry destillation,the element analysis and the mixing melting point determination of its salts.The present author found that dimethylamine was liberated on fusion of stachydrine with potassium hydroxide,whilst trimethylamine was liberated on treatment with sodalime.
