STUDIES ON THE ALKALOIDS OF AMARYLIDACEAE——Ⅰ.THE ALKALOIDS OF NARCISSUS TAZETTA L.VAR.CHINENSIS ROEM.

This paper reports a study of six crystalline alkaloids isolated from the bulbs of Narcissus tazetta L. var. chinensis Roem. These alkaloids have been proved to be identical with lycorine, pluviine, tazettine, homolycorine, lycorenine and pseudolycorine respectively. Pseudolycorine was isolated by means of the ammonium reineckate precipitation method. It is of interest to note that pseudolycorine is the principal alkaloid of N. tazetta L. var. chinensis Roem., which has so far not been isolated from many Narcissus species by several investigators.
