STUDIES ON CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF DENGZHANHUA ERIGERON BREVISCAPUS (VANT.) HAND-MAZZ Ⅰ. THE ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF PYROMECONIC ACID AND A NEW GLUCOSIDE

A new pyrone glucoside named Erigeroside was isolated from alcohol extract of the herb Dengzhanhua, a known compound, pyromeconic acid, was also isolated.Erigeroside, C₁₁ H₁₃₈, colorless needle crystals mp 190～192°G, α_D²⁰-135° (C=0.2 H₂O), is assigned as 4-pyrone-3-β-D-glucopyronoside.Pyromeconic acid was found to have pressor effect and 4-pyrone-3-β-D-glucopyronoside possesses depressor and hypnotic effects.
