Abstract

A new and mild method to synthesize hyperosidc from rutoside is described.Ruto-side reacted with an excess of benzovl chloride and then hydrolyzed in an acid medium to preduce5,7,3',4'-tetra-o-benzoylquercetin. This compound was allowed to react with α-acet obromogalac-tose in the presence of silver oxide and then hydrolyzed to give hyperoside,The total yield is 6.8%.
