SYNTHESIS OF N-ACETYL-MURAMYL-DIPEPTIDE——AN IMMUNOADJUVANT

A modified method for synthesis of N-acetyl-muramyl dipeptide (MDP) is described. MDP was prepared directly from the mixture of α-and β-anomers of protected N-acetyl-muramyl dipeptide. Since the product per se is an anomeric mixture, thus obviating the use of pure anomeric starting materials in the literature.
